Hi,

Basically I'm just curious to know how much hay everyone gets through. I am currently using 6kg (2x 3kg bags) of pets at home timothy hay in a week and a half. I've been reading other threads and am keen to try haybox timothy hay, but I'm thinking it will cost a fortune.

Does the amount of hay I'm using seem normal or am I being too generous 😂 Just for a bit of context, I have 2 guinea pigs and use 2 cat litter trays (they love having their own one to snooze in) and clean these out each evening and refill with fresh hay.

In my opinion (and that of my piggies) you can never have too much hay! Mine hide in it, sleep in it, dive in it and eat their way out, play in it, eat it and generally have fun in it. The more hay the better.

That’s a lot more than we use, we have just started using hay box I bought a 2.5kg box and have been using it for a week and have barely made a dent in it, however we only use hay in a hay rack as they are on fleece bedding so we don’t have a lot of waste. On a side not couldn’t recommend hay box enough the difference compared to the pets at home hay is huge!

I get 10kg of Haybox meadow hay delivered every 6weeks for my three pigs. They sleep, play, poop and pee in it, as well as eat it. They also get Natures Own Pets sweet green hay, but not in huge volumes

I have two also, my Finn and Lara and I give them endless amount of Oxbow hay without interruption.

These are the two types of Oxbow hay I give them and I don't allow these to run out.
Timothy Hay 4.09kg (9 lb) and Hay Blends 2.55kg (90 oz).
