How much hay?

I know that hay needs to make up the largest part of a piggie's diet, but how much is that?

Approximately how long would 2kg of hay last two pigs? And when you give it to them, do you wait u til they've finished it before adding more, or do you change it everyday? Or mix a bit of new with the old?

I put a new pile in everyday, I don’t take away the old. Hay takes up 80% of their diet and they should have unlimited amounts of hay at all times, I hope this helps. The piles of hay in my cage are bigger than my pigs, they love running through and under them!

I replace the hay daily as they tend to wee and poo in it but I top it up during the day

I replace hay twice a day. Morning and after work. And sometimes before bed

I'm sure I read somewhere that they eat roughly 2 times their size in hay per day, so I always make sure they have at least that amount at all times, although I throw my hay in a deep layer all over the floor for them to make tunnels in and mess about with, as well as eat. I think my 12 get through about 5-6kg of hay per week between them.
Everyday I remove hay that is wet or dirty looking, mainly from the corners, fluff up the rest and add a good handful of fresh per piggy.

Can't have too much hay... my herd of 5 get through about 10 kilos of meadow hay and 5 kilos of timothy hay a month... I fill up their hay room and hay loft with meadow hay during twice weekly clean outs then clean out their 2 corner hay trays they wee and poop in most every day and fill them with timothy hay... I think 2kg a week for 2 pigs sounds good!

My Finn and Lara use their hay tray as their bathrooms as well, so I throw away fair amount of soiled hay with pee and poo. I think I go through roughly 2-3 kg every week between 2 piggies.

I get regular shipment of Kaytee Timothy hay by mail. In addition, when I see sales I buy different types of hay as well as shown in the photo below.
