I've recently adopted a long haired piggie who was a bit smelly and in need of a bath!

I was thinking of bathing him again in a couple of months, is this too much?

I suppose it depends on whether they are kept indoors/outdoors and whether they're long haired/short haired etc.

Just wondered how often everyone else bathes their piggies?

I thought I heard once every 6 months? but maybe wrong

you can bathe long haired piggies once a month if needed. It depends on the pig some are quite messy and need it, if you dont want to bathe your piggie too much be sure to keep the hair around his or her bum quite short to stop it getting covered in wee

I bathe my long haired pig once a month. This is because their fur can get matted very quickly if not properly washed. I use Johnson's baby shampoo on him once a month, I also trim his fur every three months or so and brush regularly :]

usually once every 1-2 months depending on how smelly she is.. but i trim her hair every couple of weeks to keep on top of it

I give my long haired piggies a short bottom cut and a side trim to help keep their coats clean and I find I only bathe them once or twice a year or if really needed.

i have short haired ones and i have washed them 3 times this year they dont smell freddie is very clean but baz his a big boy and his sweat gland gets bad but freddie no trouble whats so ever

I bathe mine when they are grubby/smelly but trim the long haired piggies every couple of months.

the Gorgeous Guineas shampoos are fab for making them smell lush and their fur is soooooo soft afterwards that it is really worth the expense of the shampoo... I have a long haired cream piggie (Caramel - my avatar) who likes nothing better than sitting in urine! :)>>>

I have never bathed my piggies...Sam 1 and Dillon 6months. I thought it was something you needed to if really needed. Both of them are short haired though and not smelly...well at least I hope not :)

I have a boy with fairly long hair and I have to bathe him once a month. It doesn't seem to do him any harm, I don't think you get alot of choice with longer haired piggies...They tend to...Soil themselves alot.

I suppose it depends also if their indoor or outdoor does'nt it?
I bathed Trotter my little boy,i blow dried him after but he was still shaking.I ended up bringing in the indoor cage and putting him by the radiator untill the next day.It really scared me as he was acting really strange.8...
I bathed rose my long haired one back when the weather was nice and she loved it and did'nt show any signs of stress:)

I'm definitely going to invest some gorgeous guineas shampoo, I have used this before but where I've only ever had short haired piggies I never got to use it up before the best before date ran out. At least with him having long hair and needing regular bathing it shouldn't go to waste!

All I need to do now is trim his locks and clean his grease gland which I probably should of done while giving him his bath but because I've never owned a boar let alone a long haired piggie before this is all new to me!

I have short-haired piggies and they only get a bath a few times a year. The girls are getting a bath today, along with a wee pedicure.

Every few months unless they're smelly or their feet are dirty.
