my boys are really dirty (they are probably proud of it too), they pee n poop in all areas of their two tier hutch, they lie in it and even poop in their food bowl of pellets..... sigh

their bedrooms which are the worst need to be done every couple of days cos the pee soaks throu the hay into the newspaper (has lino underneath that) and id say i do the full hutch every 4-5 days with also the poop patrol every day, its a plastic gloves on job and when ive finished they usually go round all excited and make it smell of themselves again!

the rabbits are much cleaner, conviently pooping into a litter tray and a washing up bowl filled with wood shavings - that is 'mucked out' every day, the rest of the hutch is hay and newspaper and that is only done once a week as the girls are really clean.

the piggies are dirtier and smellier but when they have a 'carrot moustache' and look at you with orange piggie lips its all worth it...:))

well i have 13 boars and as most know boys get very dirty quickly! all of mine are inside and housed on fleece, i clean them out every 2 days with twice daily spot cleans in between.
I am glad the OP is cleaning more reguarly now, i let my cages go a week once and i guess due to australias warm sticky weather in summer the cages stunk horriblyrolleyes

mine are inside at mo and i give them a good clean out every 3rd day but take top layer of shaving off every day and sprinkle fresh but what it is with my pair i fill hay rack they start pullung bits out and before you know it its all out and they are sleeping on it and looks how it started out a mess

I clean the hutches fully sun and weds but in summer it's usually every 2 days Leo bunny uses the nest box as a loo so that gets more cleans than the front part. The guineas just wee everywhere!
Monty indoors is cleaned every other day with spot cleaning daily.
In summer Leo is out all day in his run so I air the hutch whilst I'm at work.
The guineas have their run time at 5 or 6 when I'm back from work so can need daily full cleans if warm weather as I only put then in the run when I'm there to supervise.
