Hopefully this will make sense,

Got me boys yesterday morning. Wouldnt move from behind house if they saw/heard me.

This morning they will let me stand there and watch but as soon as i move near them they run off.

Was going to hold them tonight/let them out in their run but i am afraid i am rushing something that should take longer.

I mean do i wait till they will take food from me?

They let me leave cucumber infront of their hut and then as soon as i close cage door they run out grab it and eat it lol.

Guess i just want to make sure i am doing the right thing.

Thanks in advance.

ps saw jerry much 1 nugget this morning lol progress. oh and ben steals all the romaine lettuce lol in fact they were both nibbling opposite ends of the last piece this morning lol.

Is it normal that they eat all the veg within 10mins of putting in cage lol

sorry for all questions.

Yes, they love their fresh food - it's a good sign!

Usually, you leave them for about 24-48 hours, depending onhow quickly they settle. Talk to them as much as possible, but leave handling to a minimum. Try not to tower over them and don't stare them in the eyes directly. Once they have their bearings, they'll be out and about. And if you have a special food signal (I do "tsk tsk tsk"), they'll learn THAT within a day's time!

Just don't get too impatient - it's hard, because you're so excited! Softly, soflty will get you there quicker in the end.

I wouldn't put them on the lawn, if they are still very shy today. If they are more outgoing, then you can do it. You'll have to use your discretion.

Make sure they have a place to hide on the lawn and don't be disappointed if they don't come out. And make sure they'r in the shade. If necessary soak a towel and hang it in front of their run or their hutch to cool down the air.

Just give them their own time, encourage them, but don't crowd them, and they'll be your best pets soon!

Thank you very much.

I guess its a fear of doing wrong by them :)

Follow your instincts! And try to read the signs they send you.

Let your love and care well up in yourself and then send it to them with a little cuddle in your mind. They'll receive it and will know that they are appreciated.

It takes time to make sense of their new world, where nothing smells right, sounds right, and all the daily rituals are different.

I always reccomend a week for them to settle in before being picked up and cuddled. Most people realistically manage aboyrt 3 days :)

I've had Pola for 2 months now, and Nell for a month and they still behave that way. They are more shy than my other pigs. They are a little better about coming out when there's food, but for the most part they hide. rolleyes

Try getting them to eat a green bean out of your hand, they were very good at this. You can do it through the bars and it gets them used to coming closer but not too close at first (especially if you can find a 'long' bean) x
