I'm sitting here looking at Pebbles and she looks miserable... I have no idea why?! Shes not bothering with the other pigs and is just feeling awfully Glum from what I can see. She is lying on top of her tunnel which she never does looking at the wall. I'm certain she is healthy... but don't know why she is having such an off day, I'm feeling quite sorry for her....

Thinking of how to cheer my precious girl up, I really do wish I could put them out on the grass but its just not possible when the dog uses it as his tiolet!

Music or singing to her could work. I suppose piggies could get the blues like every other mammal can...perhaps she's just missing the sunshine! But singing can be good - or playing good mood music as they are sound oriented.

I think tomorrow I shall be covering some grass for them and if its nice again they can go out, I'll wash the grass and wait on it to dry, would love to let them out, think I should have did it today... if it's nice again I think thats what I'll do.

She may be having pmt... I know this sounds silly but furby has two really quiet grumpy days before her season then she gets overly hormonal and then she is back to normal.

Could they not borrow the grass that your rabbit goes on?

Can you section off a piece of the grass just for them? With a few grids maybe?

I have a permanent run in the garden that is perfect but they do finish the grass in no time at all!

I think piggies have off days just like us. If she is eating and drinking then she should be fine. I was worried about Mimsi on Friday as he was very lethargic and just lying snoozing all day, but he seems fine now. Maybe she is in a huff if Fred isnt giving her as many piggie kisses as he shouldxoxo

My Charlotte likes Country music, when she was a baby i sang lots of different songs to her and there were two that she really responded to so when she is unhappy thats what I sing. My neighbors must think I'm nutty singing in the garden and rocking a guinea pig :))
My older girls like Linkin Park rolleyes. I think it sounds like chuckles a bit.

As Farquhar already said, piggies have their off days. My pigs are sometimes quiet and not at all active, but other days they're their normal selves, popcorning, wheeking, and purring. A scritch behind the ears and on the nose always cheers them up though. Cookie enjoys music, while music just seems to make Ivan's mood worse. Instead, he just likes me spending more time sitting outside his cage. My friend's pigs hate being picked up on their off days, but when they're normal they love it! Each pig likes something different, I suppose...

Joanne i have a cage that i put on the grass so as Bella can't do her woopsies on it rolleyes I got my OH to bend up some square thick wire mesh, it's got no bottom but four sides and a lift up lid :)
The grass inside is mostly good stuff now, i keep it watered right thru the hot days too, i don't always cut it for the girls to eat inside cause i use another patch for that, it's nowhere near Bella. I am hoping to put the girls inside it tonight when i get home, but need somebody to be home so as Bella can't be outside with the girls :{ of course i'll be supervising too! wont bat an eyelid!

Perhaps she is sulking because she didn't get an Easter egg?! :)) :))

An ordinary egg-box stuffed with soft sweet hay, little treats to eat, veggies bits and some lush grass when you get some might help. She might be a little bored as they sometimes get (well like us really).

PS ...Great idea about sectioning off an area of grass for piggies only.

I like the eggbox idea - I will use that one. They like chomping cardboard too so the eggbox itself becomes a fun toy as well! I may hide bits of fresh food in it and close it before I give it to them....hmm...thank you for the idea.

Swish a saucer or a ramekin with a bit of fruit juice (different kinds at different times will kep the interest up) and let her investigate that!

PS: Once the dandelions start flowering, collect some seed and grow your own dandies in pots! :))
