whats the best way to introduce new foods to my 2 piggies - only got them a few days ago from a pet shop, where I think they only ever ate pellets. I've tries grapes, which they love but don't want to give them too many of these - at the minute they get 1 a day. So far I've also tried tomatoes, bananas, broccoli and cucumber, which they took a tiny nibble off and then wouldn't go near again. I'm worried they're not getting enough fresh fruit and veg and not enough vitamin C - am I trying too many things at once? Should I offer the above foods again in case they decide they like them?

with dry food mix a new one with their original one then gradually decrease the old one a change of dry food can upset their tums, as to veggies dont try too much too soon just try one at a time and see if its eaten if so then try another thing as soon as its eaten etc etc that way you will also know if it upsets them and needs to be avoided

exactly how I introduce my lot - fruit and veg, they pretty much like anything and everything! :D

I would try foods that they have turned down, a bit later at some point. They can be scared of new foods sometimes! I mainly feed (as well as dry food & hay) Greens, baby carrots (they love these!), curly kale, savoy cabbage, Brocolli and corn on the cob (with leaves). There's lots more high vitamin foods, which are listed on the food part of this forum. For treats, i mainly give cucumber, celery, banana (with skin), and in winter i go and get grass (the all time favourite). They do have other fruit too, but not too much (pear skin is a favourite!)

It used to be just 2 vege for breakfast, but i now i give 3 or 4 if my piggie is being fussy! Then 1, maybe 2 different things for a treat at night (seperate from dry & hay).

When introducing new food, it's always best to just give a little and one at a time
