Human Pregnancy Any Issues With Handling Guniea Pigs

I know many of you wonderful fur mummy's will also be human mums as well and I'm hoping to join the ranks in the future i was trying to find out if there is anything I should be careful with during pregnancy or once I'm a mum with handling or cleaning out my fur babies as I'm aware some animals like cats and dogs bodly functions can cause harm to unborn babys and new Born's.
Any advice is most welcome and thank you in advance. X

I don't think piggies have Toxoplasmosis or anything like that but you should take care washing your hands before & after handling piggies & cleaning them etc, just observe good hygiene

We have never heard of any reports that connect guinea pigs with toxoplasmosis and none of our members who had a pregnancy while keeping guinea pigs has ever had issues because of them.

Please always use normal good hygiene with thorough hand washing after handling your piggies or any used stuff. If you are really worried and in an ad-risk group, use disposable gloves and and face mask when cleaning out your guinea pigs or ask a family member to do it for you.

I've never heard of any connection between guinea pigs and illnesses in pregnant mothers, not like potentially contracting toxoplasmosis through cats. I would make sure to wash hands well after handling just in case, but other than that you should be good.

There is no pregnancy advice specifically regarding Guinea pigs although general good hygiene is of course recommended.
