I am having some problems with him and its getting me rather worried. The CIPRO seems strong for him because for the past 5days he has not eaten nor drank water on his own. He also does not poo nor pee. So what I have down is taken his NATURAL timothy hay food and put it in a coffee grinder n turned it into a powder then added a tablespoon of distilled water n made a mash from it and hand feed him twice a day about 6ml at each feeding. Then I puree red grapes and apple and pear and then add 1/2 teaspoon of priobotic powder and syringe feed him 6ml at each feeding. Then thru out the day I syringe feed him distilled water gently not all at once. I am still continueing to let him in the bathroom to get a steamed spa for 15min twice a day. He seems to not be as active. I also give him baby lettuce/arugula/baby spinach/endive radicchio cleaned in distilled water once a day. I am extremely concerned.

You need to get him to the vet ASAP and discuss your concerns, if he is not pooing it is serious, does he seem bloated at all? He may need a gut stumulant if he is not producing poos. Well done on manually feeding him though. Has he dropped any weight? please weigh him daily when he is like this.

Can you remind me what the CIPRO is for?

I'm sorry you are having a tough time with Mr Bailee. If he has not eaten for 5 days by himself, I think you need to get back to the vets ASAP.
If he is not eating for himself you need to try and get a bit more food into him and more often. I think it is 120ml in 12 hours, hopefully someone can confirm this. Is he interested in eating?

If he has pellets you can add boiled water to them and allow them to cool and form into a mush, you can add a little more water if it is too thick. I understand how hard it is to syringe feed a poorly piggy and wish you the best of luck.

Does his tummy feel hard/ sound hollow if it is tapped?

Hope this helps, and hopefully some one with more experience can help further

ETA: It seems someone more experienced posted before me.

As Klee says it is important to get as much as you can into him, a lovely lady who has helped me lots over the last year recommends 120 ml in 12 hours or at least 40ml every 4 hours including overnight. I have also seen 120 ml in 24 hours mentioned too so maybe try and meet half way. I think a vet visit is the most important thing here though as he sounds very poorly.

He is on CIPRO due to an absess in the root of his upper insicor .18 twice daily because evedently it has caused a sinus infection. CIPRO 120 is what its called. But I am tempted to take him off of it. He produces maybe 2-4 poos a day.

Please don't panic, it can be very difficult to get them to take anywhere near that much if they are feeling poorly. Trust me- I know!
Contact your vet and see if you can get him seen, even if they are closed. I know in the UK most vets have a 24 hour answering machine which lets you know who to contact overnight/ on a weekend

What did the vet say to do with the pain relief? give it as and when? I think he needs it twice a day as a pig that is not eating is likely to be in pain. Please see your vet ASAP and discuss the antibiotic with him and explain how he has been affected by it. Though it could be the pain that is making him like this not the antibiotic itself. You could discuss a different antibiotic too such as Zithromax (Azithromycin) which is really good for abcesses, and Debbie (Furryfriends) has used this with success as has a friend of mine.

Something is clearly not agreeing with your little man - get him back to the vet ASAP!
You're such an amazing mummy and sending vibes your way for him!

Keep us to update with his progress!

Okay so I phoned and left a message on their emergency number & got a call immediately from Dr. Carrol n she advised me to take a medium bristled "new" toothbrush and gently swipe it under the infected tooth and gently around top and bottom and underside in order to lance the infection...so I did and WHAM! stuff came out of his nostril above that infected tooth area. So I am to do that every time after I syringe feed him. Also I am to feed him the mash 10ml-20ml every 2hours until he works his way up. And give him .2ml of the meloxicam every 12 hours. Adding the distilled water to his mash will hydrate him as well. WOW I am soooooooo thankful to all of you for allllllll of your helpful advise. I am amazed of how much knowledge I have gained from joining this amazing forum. Thank you again for all your support and I will keep everyone updated every other day regarding his progress.

Brilliant, am so pleased you called the vet and he has agreed on the pain relief etc. Hope he starts to eat for himself once he is more comfortable. Did he say anything about the lack of poo?

I bet doing that has eased any if some of the discomfort! Brave little man!

Sorry to hear that Mr Bailee isn't well, but he seems in good hands so hopefully he will start to pick up very soon.

Other members are better placed than me to offer advice but with our troubles over the past few months I've learnt a couple of things that may be helpful:

The more pain a piggy is in the less likely they are to eat, so try and ensure he has some daily painkillers as it does sound painful for him.

And weighing him daily at the same time will give you a good idea as to whether he is eating enough. You want to keep weight loss to a minimum.

Good luck - i'm thinking of you and Mr Bailee and wish you all the best.

Hoping Mr. Bailee Boy gets well soon. I didn't see this thread earlier :( x

Yes because of the lack of food he was consuming but she did say to start off with 10ml every 2hrs then daily add more every 2hours . Also to give him the MELOXICAM twice daily (every 12hrs for pain relief)

Hello I just caught up with this thread, and I just wanted to say that I hope he starts to improve. Pig kisses and healing vibes from me and the boys xx.

Sorry for only catching up with this thread, I haven't managed to get on the forum much the past 24 hours. Sorry to hear Mr B isn't doing too well. Hopefully the pain relief should help. If the poo output is still low please speak to your vet regarding metachlopromide gut stimulant, in the US it goes by the name of Reglan I think over here it is emeprid.

Lots of vibes to Mr Bailey Boy and hugs to you x
