While I was cutting her nails she moved and I accidentally cut the quick! I feel so bad but she won’t even take food from me now. She is so mad. She runs away every time I get close to her, even with food. Will she ever forgive me? What do I do?

Most of us have done the same at nail cutting time. You feel awful when it happens. She is sulking cos you hurt her. You will be forgiven but in her own time. Just keep offering her her favourite food from your hand and she'll soon come to forgive you.

Hi!

Please take a deep breath and calm down. If the bleeding stops within about 10 minutes of the cut, then there is no problem.

Stay away from your piggy and when you lift her make a bit of a fuss. She'll forgive you in a day or two. Please be aware that she is reacting to the emotions you are broadcasting more than anything else.

See a vet promptly if the bleeding doesn't stop or if their are signs of infection (swelling, redness/heat compared to the same toe on the other foot).

Don’t panic
We do get forgiven in time by our piggies.
Don’t worry about the nail unless you see signs of infection.
My Jemimah managed to tear a nail out her very first playtime when she was a baby. It healed up fine.

I'm sure we've all done it, I did once and I felt really bad. You will be forgiven when she realises you don't go near her to hurt her but to give her food!

Ive got to cut all of burnies black nails on friday, i had to leave it the other night because i didnt want to rush it and cut the quik. Your pig will be fine, ive done this a few times before. The pigs didnt fall out with me.though lol

I think most of us have done this at one time or another. She will forgive you. I once accidentally kicked one of my pigs (she darted in front of my foot while I was walking during floor time.) Not hard and didn't hurt her, but she clearly wondered why I booted her and was very vary/afraid of me walking by for the next few days, which made me feel terrible! She did forgive me, though. Just being the one who brings the treats guarantees you a reconciliation in the future! ;)
