I swapped out their beds today because the ones they had were in dire need of a wash. Or of whatever the guinea pig safe equivalent is to a bleach bath. I put new beds in. They've used these beds before. Many, many times before. They were being a bit hesitant but hey, maybe they just don't want to go to bed just yet?

Just been upstairs. They're both sitting next to each other under one corner of the cage with the two beds right next to them. But they won't go near the beds. I am very, very confused.

They funny little things, it takes them a while to get used to changed, new things, did you put some old hay in with their scent on it so it doesn’t feel like a brand new home?

I mean honestly I swapped them out for another two beds, freshly cleaned in the same wash, and they didn't mind walking into those! I almost thought I'd washed them with the wrong detergent for a bit until they went into the third pair, lol.

Which maybe begs the question, why do they have so many pairs of beds in the first place?! I'll try the second pair again tomorrow, maybe with different inserts, see if that's what they're protesting (silently) about.

Oh dear, good luck with the beds. Hamish got spooked by one of the cage corners last week, and wouldn't go near it, for no obvious reason. Luckily 2 days later It was time for a clean home, and he decided that the corner wasn’t quite so scary any more. (The corner looked exactly the same after cleaning!)

I had a bit of fleece pegged over the cage and the corner the beds were in and the corner they were in was underneath it. And there they were, just...sitting there, lol. Speaking of being spooked by a cage corner but I've noticed recently neither seems to go anywhere near the corner with the fleece forest in it. I wish I understood their thought process occasionally.
