I’ve been noticing that the hay I have feels a bit off. I don’t know if it’s just cold or if it’s wet, and my piggies have been pooping smaller pellets as well, which I believe is due to the hay. The hay is green, I don’t know what I could say about the smell but it does smell a bit bitter, and most importantly, feels cold. I don’t know if what I have is good hay or bad hay.

If it doesn't smell or feel right I would definitely throw away the hay and buy a new one! Usually smaller pellets are due to a smaller intake of hay, and taking your piggies off of vegetables for a day or so usually gets them back to normal. However, if the hay you have smells weird than maybe the guinea pigs don't like it? So, a think a new hay bale would be good.

What brand is it ?

I used to buy hay from my local shop but the quality has gone down (damp and unappetising) so I found Haybox online. On my first box now and my piggies like it. Maybe it's worth a try for you?

Does it smell damp or musty? Where do you usually keep it, or did it appear odd when you first opened it?

I would try and get your money together and buy another lot.
