Adult Guinea Pig
About 6.30 yesterday when I was returning the piggies to their hutch for the night, (which is outside), Rosie had a fit of the wriggles and managed to plop out of my clutches. OMG you cannot imagine how deranged and fraught I was. She shot off under the hutch, which I can't get under cos I'm too big and Minty's hutch is one side and a kids sandpit the other. And I was so afraid that if I went after her she would just run and run. So I stood and shouted for the kids. (And if you could see our garden, you would know that we would never have seen her again once she'd got away.)
My youngest, Gemma (who is 8), was an absolute hero :smitten: She scrambled under the hutch (amongst dead holly leaves, gravel and twigs) and pounced on the startled Rosie, who squeaked like mad but she was S A F E! Thank you Gemma, thank you soooo much darling! You saved our little Rosie. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
I am going to be ultra careful now with Rosie. She's always been a real wriggler, even in the pet shop where we got her from they had nicknamed her fidget because she didn't stay still for a second!
By the way, Rosie wasn't hurt at all. Gemma's knees bled quite a bit though.
I keep thinking how different I would be feeling now if Gemma hadn't caught her. It doesn't bear thinking about.
