I told you about the loss of the darling Rooney Pig...

Well, his friends, Oscar was the one left behind and he was heart broken. He gave up completely and we thought he was lost...
But my brother sucked in his tears and did what needed to be done - I told him that if he googled it, he would find rescues in the local area - so he did and he found Oscar a friend within a matter of days.
My brothers girlfriend was a bit angry because she was struggling with losing Rooney...But so was my brother...
There isn't much you can do, though, when loneliness is killing your Guinea Pig...What can you do? Oscar had stopped eating, he wouldn't come out of his log cabin...

So, my brother got his little boy...A Ladypig!

You can't...See her face, though because Oscar really loves her. He refused to let me take a photo of her beautiful face.

Her name is Dixie and she's a little sweetie but a bit of a trouble maker. She's a jumper...And a wanderer.

Yay! That's so great that Oscar now has company again. I know that each piggie that passes leaves a hole in our hearts, but hopefully sweet Dixie will open up other parts of your brother and gf's hearts too!

I'm so pleased that you have managed to find Oscar a friend that he likes so soon. I take it that your boy is neutered as it is rare to find a spayed sow in rescue.

Yup. My brother played it safe and had both his boys neutered "just incase" anything should happen in future...I guess like this.

I know myself how hard it is when a bereaved piggy takes it hard, but your brother has done absolutely the right thing. Oscar is probably a changed piggy now, and his lady will make her very nest in her humans' hearts in her own good time. A new piggy never replaces another one!

Guinea pigs don't grieve any less, but by necessity, they need to get on with life again - or die.

Looking forward to seeing a bit more of Oscar and his wife in good time!

Oh they look so happy together. It is really good your brother did this as lonelyness can be so damaging for a piggy.
