I finish work at 6 and 2/3 times a week I visit morrisons on my way home. I get there at the best time as the reduced veg becomes really reduced!

This evening I got all this for 19p each & having four pigs it soon goes!

- Huge bag of carrots to be eaten in two days time (we will help pigs with this) :))
- Purple stem brocolli to be eaten by tomorrow
- pack of two gem lettuces
- bag of kurly kale
- bag of rocket
- fresh mint
- pack of two celery hearts
- pack of 6 peppers

tonight they had, brocolli, celery, carrot, rocket, pepper & mint

tomorrow they will get kale, celery, gem lettuce, pepper & brocolli

I used self service checkout and every item buzzed as didn't weigh right amount - the women at tills kept looking at me funny as if to say how can you possibly eat all that veg! :))

I must add, they don't normally get so much in one sitting but I was super excited! :))

Great haul hun you will have some very happy piggies on your hands :(|)

Is this the Morrisons on the docks?! I have never seen bargains like this!

yes you need to look on the small table between the bananas & the peppers / stirfry fridge and also in the fridges just under the packets of loose lettuce leaves is where the cold stuff is kept! some days are better than others but I usually get 3+ items per week.

They get reduced to the really low price around 6.20-6.30 sometimes I am too early and they are only half price so I walk round the store and then go back a bit later :)) I think it depends who is working also as the really good deals usually have wrong labels like they price a huge bag of carrots as mixed salad today? But the checkout staff are used to it I think!

gotta love days like that when we get great bargains.

good haul and I bet your pigs are in veggie heaven.

they are they munched away for 30mins solid before getting board and walking off, they will **** finish it later :))

I know where you mean! ;)

I normally go to the Leyland one but when visiting my mum, I go to the one on the docks. I always find my local Somerfield is good for last minute deals also, I got a huge romaine lettuce for 25p that ran out yesterday but is still in good nick! -c

yeah i know I do sometimes use veg after the date but only if i would eat it myself. if it looks wilted or anything it goes in the bin but if I would eat it the piggies get it too! I think that is the best philosphy to have as sometimes they are display dates instead of use by.

Also I must admit some stuff in the shop is still in date and I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole it looks brown or limp etc.. I suppose it depends how it is kept before it comes to the shop and whilst it is there. I swear people change their minds, put things back on an un-refriderated shelf and then the employees just bung it back in the fridge when it has been out on side all day! I also put everything in my fridge for that bit of extra shelflife!

i quite often get late deals in the co-op
got 2 cucumbers for 55p (thats cheapest ive seen them for a few weeks) and a salad bag for 17p that needs to be used up tomorrow but with 2 piggies and 2 bunnies thats do-able here :)
oh i do love a bargain

Co op also for me ,today I got 6 cos lettuce 5 cucumbers 2 celery 4 bags mixed salad 3 tubs cherry tomatoes and a big box of free outside cabbage leaves .These will be stored outside in polystyrene boxes which will keep them pretty fresh for a few days. If you think that is a lot of veggies you should see what 61 piggies get through in a day. Am always looking for bargains and my local farm shop where I get hay dried food etc always save me the outside leaves and things like that.
