I went in to get nuggets and pellets and saw the guinea pigs trying to drink from a green almost empty bottle, I feel sick that I never said anything and don't know why I didn't. :(

Think I will get a job there so I can make sure they are looked after.

Should I go back tomorrow? I feel sorry thinking now that they are suffering and are bored, they don't have snuggle sacs or veg, the rabbit had nuggets and nothing else.

:(

they put vit drops in the water which is why it tends to be green - I asked about that as I thought it was old murky water and the woman explained and even showed me it turning some fresh water green

I'm sure someone will have seen the bottle empty or near empty and said something to the staff or maybe even a staff member noticed and filled it :) So I'm sure they wont be going without water

hope this helps but your mind at ease a least a little bit
x

that isnt a good example of how to treat the pets they are selling!

unfortunately a lot of these places seem much more bothered about the sale of stock and money than the welfare of their creatures... despite all the ethical posters and policies around the place.

Actually that is a good point, the vitamins we use for our Lucky turn the water a green.

Ive not seen it in shops before, but then again ive not paid that much attention to the water bottles!

Thanks for the reassurance. :)

Think there was about an inch left so am hoping someone has noticed. I am stupid for not saying anything though. grrrr

I have seen the green water too from the drops.

Don't be afraid to say if you don't think they have enough of stuff. I have been known to ask them to top up water or give more hay much to my husbands horror. There is only one store around here that I find hopeless and every time i'm in there I ask for them to do something for the guineas.

I do expect it will be topped up though, dont worry too much.

It shouldn't be too much of a problem, if you are really worried then I suggest you don't go in the store :)

I wouldn't be too worried. Most P@H stores tend to take good care of their animals. They aren't quite as evil as other stores.

But if you're worried, just give them a polite phone call in the morning and mention it. At least then you'd have had your say and they might not let it happen again.

Thanks. :)

I am sure they will look after them really, the green thing made me realise it wasn't because they never clean the bottle!

Well, I was shocked when I read it!

I didn't know that those drops could do that to the water, either.
I'd probly have been pretty angry to see that, too! :o

But at least we know that it's fine. That's the main thing.
