They are in their hutch and so beautiful! One's in cosy cup and the other in plastic home. I've had cuddles with them both and now leaving them to get used to their surrounding's! They love parsley bless them! Will put their weight's up in a bit when i weigh them. I can't add pic's as on phone, but trust me they're gorgeous!

Aww, glad to hear that they are settling in well. Can't wait to see some pigtures of them!

I'm trying to keep noise to a min! But can't really with them being in lounge! So i'm just keeping eye on them, they've not moved out their houses yet lol they seen quite fat! They've eaten hay and parsley so far.. So so adorable. They'll get used to different noises won't they? Kids, dog, tv lol omg sounds awful. Hoover!? Lol

Nipper weighs 181g and cuddles weighs 201g. Is this ok for four weeks?

Aww fantastic news Anna! I am so happy for you. They will have a lovely exciting life with such a wonderful mummy.

Anyone know if those weights are ok? They love being fussed bless them, although they're not budgin from their cosy cup lol

I am not sure about the weights but I would not worry as you said they were fat!

xx>>> great news! Sure someone will come along with knowledge of baby weights soon...

These babies are very small for their age.

They are the weights for small 3 week old babies, or the average 2 week old. Even though I have pregnant females come in to the rescue in poor condition and having had poor nutrition the babies born here are not that small, and they certainly aren't that underweight by that age.

not sure what they should be but my 4 week olds are 289g, 314g and 323g. i think that is more like the weight they shouls be but i'm sure someone with more experience will be along soon to advise you.

I have just weighed Renata's babies who are 15 days old - she was fed rabbit food and pregnant at 6 weeks so a very poor start for the babies. They weigh 196g and 219g.

Ok, was expecting problems so now need solutions x they've got alfalfa hay (quite twiggy?) excel nuggets and i'm offering fresh veg. So is it a case of weigh each day? Or what do i do? X

I dont know too much about what the perfect weight should be, but If they are eating fine, I would just keep an eye on their weight, and as long as they dont drop I wouldnt worry too much! They are going to be a little nervous being in a new home, so they may be a bit picky at eating at the moment, just tempt them with plenty of veggies and encourage their eating and they should be fine. You can always add a bit of hay into their hidy holes that way if they dont want to come out they will still have hay to nibble on. also put the food bowls close to their hidy holes so they can see it and they can dart out and take a bit back to the safety of the hidy hole if they want to!

Just thought I would add, when I first brought my Rose home, I was told she was 6 to 8 weeks old, but I dont think she was, she actually weighed 125g I just kept an eye on her, didnt get myself all worked up about it, she was eating fine and doing fine and now weighs 320g

When I brought Mabel home was also told she was 6 weeks old but weighed only 150gms - so more like 2 weeks! Gave her plenty of nuggets and normal meadow hay and a teeny bit of alfalfa and she is fine now :-)

I'd say those weights are ok - some piggies weigh more than others and so you have to judge by the amount of condition they have, and whether they are growing or not at this age.

Mine live in our playroom, so just have to get used to noise, and yes they shut it right out. They have their quiet times when the kids are at school, but the tv and general racket is fine for them. They are more worried by being loomed over.

Thanks a lot, can you advise on my suspicious patch on baby post?

The suspicious patch needs to be checked by a vet, I would try to get an appointment on monday, as wednesday is nearly a week and its best to get fungal under control quickly (If thats what it is). If your vet shines a special light over the piggies and delares them fungal free because it didnt florress, Dont buy it. Not all fungal piggies can get floresses, that does not mean their problem isnt fungal. (However we dont know its fungal, So go with what the vet advises, just warning you that some vets arnt aware of the not floressing) :)

Please claim back any vet fees (or try to) from the rescue. Also, take a picture of the patch today (even though you cant show it to us), as proof that it was there when you got the piggies home (ie she rehomed them in that condition) as that will back up the complaint youve already made.

As for the weights, They are very low. Try not to give them too much veg to start with as it may upset their little tums to have new things. Also, the less veg they have the more (fattening) pellets they will eat, so dont go crazy with the veggies. :)

Atleast, thats what Ive picked up from other similar cases. Anyone correct me if they think I'm wrong pleasee!

I totaly agree in what you are saying, the pellets are by far going to help the piggies gain weight more than veggies, but I remember with my two, none of them were that keen on pellets at first, and would barely touch them. I guess it does also depend on what they have been used to also! which in my case they were both on some kind of mix, it didnt look that good qaulity either! So IMO I would say it is good to encourge eating habbits even if it is veggies, because you wouldnt want them to go the other way, the more you get them eating, you are stimulating their eating habbits which will lead to them wanting more and more food, their pigs they cant help it, lol:(|)

Annaleaze, you are welcome to phone me at the rescue to have a chat about your new babies. I am available today, hopefully we can come up with a few things to help you and the boys.

where did the baba's come from? Were they from a rescue? I would think it very unusual that a rescue would fib about their ages. But it hink with bought pigs its very common to give them away younger than the advisable 6 weeks.

hi everyone :)p

thanks suzy i've put your number in my phone thank you, i have no cred to call you til tuesday, but i'm calling vet monday and i'm more than 100% sure its ringworm. my daughter caught it from school one time, and this looks kinda the same (which is weird to see lol) so def gotta get to vets monday for treatment. and for us its gloves, although i've **** caught it tbh as i've handled him! but hey ho wont kill me.

They are both eating well - nuggets, hay and fresh veg. making lots of noises and generally happy little souls jumping about. they've been out for cuddles with me and i'm taking all precautions i had to when dealt with human ringworm. so changing and washing everything.

Cuddles (the one that has the patch) has another one starting ive noticed just above that one.

Nipper (who bit me again little so in so lol) has nothing, he's free of anything strange.

So, i'm not panicking but definately sorting vets 9am tomorrow morning xx

Hurray! You are officially a guinea pig mum. The boys sound like they are settling in well despite being unwell.
