The Cavy Spirit website used to have really good pictures. I know what you mean about the extra bit though. When I was sexing the boys I tried to compare with the girls (separately obviously!) and that bit used to confuse me. I've got the Cavy Spirit page with all the (graphic!) photos saved on my favourites. Does anyone know if the page stays in favourites if the actual website changes?

It is strange, I have been looking at piggy bits all day and can not find that on any picture.

To be honest and this is from my personal experience, I think all sows have it. I think its to the internal muscles that squeeze the poops out but when young its more obs'. I have just checked two adult sows and they have it but the vulva (external bit of skin) is larger than a young sow so it covers it over.
Also, tries not to get too rude, the vaginal entrance is also down there so it could possibly be a covering for that because the anus and vaginal entrance are pretty close.

So it could be one of the above possibilties, TBH noone has ever asked me what it is.

trust it to be me, to ask.
I check Pig-Pog who is 6 months old and she has not got it and I checked Honkalula who is 3 months old and neither has frogmella who is 2.5 months old.
It is by the anus.

Wow thats an excellent, technical link! :D What has always amazed me how Sows don't have periods! The lucky, lucky ! ;D

Have a look around the full anatomy!
I found it a few years ago and it was fantasic to help me with my animal care college work, if I was allowed to choose the animals it would always be Guineas!
I am a lucky buggar too because I get the contreseptive(sp?) injection (have done for 7yrs) and I get nothing! I don't think i could withstand it now, tbh, lol!
I was recommended that I should have a break but I am not interested in little kiddies, I would have to give up some of my piggies, they are my babies and Chance (doggie) is my biggest baby.

It's an interesting subject, I've put it in my favs thanks Emma. Never thought I'd be interested in anything like this but with having the pigs you want to know all you can about them! :)
