I was holding Esme earlier and she started squeaking, did the normally tummy check and she squeaks approximately in the same area as when she previously had her UTI, and her bits look a bit sore.
Popped her back in the cage and she seems to be squeaking when peeing, and her urine smells quite strong. Again she seems happy in herself and is eating and drinking. I am taking her the vets tomorrow, going to ring up first thing.

Hopefully this will be the last problem for a while. x

Oh no! Good luck at the vets. I hope it is nothing.

Thanks we seem to be forever there. She hasn't been squeaking when peeing that I've seen this morning, but I have had her out for cuddles and she still seems to be a bit tender.
I wondered if she may have caused it by 'scent marking', I'm not sure if they are actually scent marking but in the new cage they all seem to drop their bums and drag them across the floor.

Good luck at the vets, poor Esme. I hate Bladder problems. I suggest getting a sample sent away for a urinalysis so you can see for sure if there is any bacteria in her wee or if it is non bacterial cystitis.

We are currently following a new regimne suggested to us by a rodentologist and carried out under the suppervision of our vet who is very forward thinking on Cookie (Cookie and Treacle both have long term bladder issues) Cookie is on 2 capsules of cystease once a day and is having catrophen injections, so far she is squeaking less. We plan to do it for Treacy-Bum also but are waiting till her bloat has settled down.

I can recomend Catrophen injections they helped our previous pig Putt with her inflamed Bladder Wall and rosie our vet has had success with them while treating another piggie.

Love to your beautiful ginger lady x

Good luck at the vets Klee and Esme. These UTIs really are a nuisance!

Sport_billy, just out of interest - what is Catrophen? Is it an anti-inflammatory of some kind? Just wondering if it may help Jerry. I upped his Cystaid to a full capsule 3 days ago as he's going through a particularly squeaky phase.

Catrophen is similar to cystease, it's a supplement thats used for arthritis to lower inflamation in cats and dogs and helps produce the stuff to line the bladder i believe. I'm seeing Rosie next week for another one for Cookie and to check on Treacy's Bloat, so will ask Rosie how it exactly works.

If you want, I'm sure Rosie won't mind me giving you her number should you wish your vet to contact her for further details on it.

Vet visit was a little inconclusive, as she wasn't squeaking/ in pain when examined and had an empty bladder so the vet couldn't get a sample.
She is acting completely different today, no squeaking and she doesn't look sore. We have been told to keep an eye on her for the next 24-48 hours and take her back if anything changes. We are going to start her back on cystease for a few weeks to see if that improves.
I was wondering, may she have passed some crystals in the urine that made her a bit sore? x

Oh how strange. I have no idea if she may have passes some crystals but it is great she does not seem to be in pain now.
