My piggie, ash, is a newborn, about 2.5 months old, and we got him from petco. I’ve had him for about 2 weeks, and he has been fine. This week he is behaving oddly, eating slowly, limping, falling on his side, struggling to move, and I don’t know what is wrong. Should I take him to the vet? Do I need to worry? Will he die?

I would get him to the vet as soon as you can. Is he still pooping normally? It sounds like he is very weak. How long has he been struggling to move?

His poops seem fine. He was struggling to move for a few days, and then went back to normal. He then started falling on his side, barely keeping balance. He’s been struggling to move for a few days and now I’m worried

There is definitely something wrong, I would call the vet first thing in the morning.

He definitely needs a vet visit. Try to find a vet that is knowledgeable about guinea pigs (in Canada and the US, these vets are usually billed as vets that treat 'exotics' or 'pocket pets.') A vet that is knowledgeable about small animals is much better than someone who really focuses on dogs and cats. Best of luck to you and your piggie!

Hi

Please have your piggy vet checked ASAP. This is a serious condition.
You can find all necessary information on what you can do in an emergency (how soon to see a vet, how to care for a very ill piggy and what to do when your piggy is dying) via this link here: Emergency, Crisis and Bridging Care until a Vet Appointment

As this is within the month that new guinea piggies are covered by your new owners' customer rights in the US, you can reclaim any vet cost from the pet shop.
Here is more information on your customer rights in several countries: New guinea pigs: Sexing, vet checks&customer rights, URI, ringworm and parasites
