I Think My Pig Is Mad At Me :(

We've had him for three days now. We clipped his nails yesterday night and it went really well, but I think he was a little miffed at us. Yesterday I've had to take him out of his hidey hole a few times. One because floor time was over and the other because I needed to put the padding back under his hole. Now he runs away from me and seems mad at me. Before he would let me pet him and even let me pick him up. Do piggies ever forgive? I give him fresh veggies every morning and night, even try to bribe him... but nothing.

It has still only been a couple of days. My pigs sometimes let me pet and sometimes run away and I have had them for about 2 weeks. It takes time. Try not to worry! You are doing a great job and much better than he has ever had!

Patience is the key.
Well that and food.
It is hard when they first arrive and I understand you had to clip his nails, but maybe try and give him a day or two longer to settle.
Hand feed lots of tasty veg pieces and he will soon come around.
When our piggies first arrived we could only pick them up using a tunnel, but now the minute we put our hands near them they run forward, desperate to see what treats we might be offering!

He is still getting used to you at 3 days in. Sometimes what looks like docility at the very beginning (i.e. standing still and allowing themselves to be stroked or picked up) is actually a fear response (guinea pigs tend to either freeze or run- sometimes what looks like calm is, in fact, the 'freeze' mechanism.) They do take time to get their confidence and warm up to people. Keep on offering treats and remember that it takes some time. They are prey animals and naturally wary until they feel comfortable.
