I brought 2 of these from Pets at home on my way home from work today. I have 4 questions about them really.

1) Is one enough for 2 piggies? The reason I ask is that my intention is to give them one why the other one is freezing.

2) Can I leave them in the freezer all the time? (It says on the box to freeze for 3 - 4 hours)

3) How long do they last before they defrost?

4) Do I need to wrap them in a towel or anything?

Thanks :)

I dont know! lol, I am useless but I use water bottles (free!) that I put in the freezer and hammocky hammocks have a new range of veg tin covers, as you can freeze them as well :))

Do not let your guinea pig have direct contact with something which is frozen in the same way you wouldn't apply to a burn or injury (human) something which is frozen directly to skin.

I wrap everything which is frozen (water bottles, frozen cola bottles, etc.) in a towel before I put it into the cage. In the cage I put the frozen thing in a hidey hole. The towel ensures they won't get frost-bite or hurt by direct contact with the frozen bottle.

yes i have 4 which I got yesterday. I really like them but don't think you should leave them in the freezer for too long I left some in overnight and this morning they seemed a bit like it could have been too long. slightly enlarged (not much but can't be good for them)

i put an old tea towel on mine but they dont bother with it and i have mine in freezer all the time i think its only same stuff what are in those ice blocks what you use for pinics and i keep them in freezer til i need them and i only got one between to piggies good job i did seeing as they dont bother with it. mine were out in run for about 3 hours and it was still nice and cool

Mine have a snuggle safe as well for the winter. Eliza has took to the Ice Pod like a glove but Eleanor seems a little wary of it at the minute. I think that the only difference is that ice packs have a toxic substance inside which can be harmful to piggies where as ice pods just have normal water in them so are animal friendly x

They are having frozen bottles in socks as well :) I only brought them because they are on offer at the minute £4.95 each :)

That sounds like a hilariously good idea :)

My pigs have a sock-pillow they seem to like dragging around with them.. I wonder what they'd do with a cooling one :D

Hi, I went looking for ice pods in P@H and they were sold out, then went to Range and they were selling cage fans-has anyone on here tried them? I bought 1 to try as my lot looked pretty fed up yesterday with the heat

Thanks for mention :)

The info on our new Can Cozees can be found here and we also sell Fleecey covers that fit the Ice Pods here. I've only just come back from a prolonged break so the shop is still being updated but the Can Cozees will be added tomorrow afternoon.

I have used frozen veg cans for years as coolers, I tend to avoid anything plastic because I have a couple of nibblers who cannot be trusted with plastic anywhere near them!

As already mentioned, whatever sort of ice blocks you choose to use, make sure they are well rinsed until ice stops forming on them, and that they are suitably covered. On really hot days I tend to stack tins up on top of their cages as cold air sinks and my Piggies are a little short in the old common sense department and don't usually understand the concept of sitting next to a cool can rolleyes so this way I can make sure that they are benefiting fully from the lovely cool cans :)

we now have sucess with ice pods. Tiger won't go near his (even when rapped in a towel) so have put ontop of his house and he sits inside it quite happily. george loves his, he is now back in nero 4 due to his naughty chomping on the correx :)) I have put his ice pod onto of the nero house covered in a towel and he either sits inside the house and licks the water drops off the roof of the house or he sits ontop on the icepod on the roof! thumbs up from me!

Yay :) Eliza loves to sit on it but Ellie is still a little wary of it but will lay next to it :)

Mine have one pod between two of them, only two of them have it I thought i'd test it on them and get more for the others if they liked it! I freeze mine over night then wrap it in an old t-shirt and put it in with them during the day, both of them use it but never at the same time lol. My others all have frozen bottles in socks which seem to go down just as well so I won't be buying any more ice pods! x
