we’ve had Smudge for 2 Days and I am thinking that I will ask my boss or just go and use my $$ to get her a friend. The pet store where my boss got her is right by work, so I was thinking when I take her home with me tomorrow night I may see if any of her former cage mates are still there - if they are will I need to keep them separate and do introductions or do you think they will be ok in the same cage right away - Smudge was purchased the evening of the 13th.
Thanks
Karen (and Smudge)

I have seen your other thread and if you do get another piggy you will need a larger cage than the one you have at the moment. I would recommend a larger one anyway as the one you have at the moment is a bit small. Rule with piggies is the larger the better! Have a look at this guide to cage sizes:-
Cage Size Guide

By the way a foot is 12 inches.

For two boys, you’ll need about 13 square feet. Males need more room than females, to minimize fighting.

I wouldn’t advise buying from a pet store. Their guinea pigs could have diseases. Often, the gender they tell you is not the right one. Their sows can be pregnant. Adopt from a shelter instead.

The one we have is a girl. One of my friends posted today that she was relieved to find out that her guinea pig did not have a tumor, he turned out to be a she and is pregnant and due any day - I messaged her and if there are more than one girl in the litter, (they will be vet checked fo health and gender) I will get a girl from her to introduce to Smudge - this will give me time to build a bigger cage and plan for the possibility of them not getting along.
