Hello, so I took Ludwig last week to the vets about this and I've been watching him closely and its gotten worse.

The vet told me they didn't know what it was and using a UV light they found nothing. The patch has gotten worse since. Does anyone have any idea what this is? Also is there any guinea pig rescues in Herts that can tell me of a Vet to take him to? I've already taken him to a so called guinea pig specialist listed on here but they were the ones who didn't know.

I'm getting VERY worried as he's also lost 50grams of weight and I've noticed he is taking longer to eat his vegetables than usual. Yesterday when eating a green bean he kept dropping it and it was taking longer to eat than his usual few seconds.

This picture is quite blurry but you can see how big it is. I'm sure its gotten bigger than it was previous.

A UV light is a wood lamp and it will not show up fungal on a guinea pig but will work on a cat or dog.

I just checked out my previous thread from just over a week ago and it has indeed gotten bigger.

The only way to successfully diagnose fungal is by doing a fungal culture, the vet will brush him with a toothbrush (sterile) and take a pick of hair this is sent to the lab for cultures.

He doesn't look old how much does he weigh?

He weighs 1105. He's 2 years old. He's a lot smaller than his cage mate and he's also smaller than my other younger boars who are a year younger.

As my vet says; 60 grams is when you should be going to the vet over what period has he lost 50 grams?

I would however be seeing a vet about his skin anyway, and do start strict hygiene washing hand etc after handling and before handling any of your other boys!

Okay. I haven't actually been able to weigh him in a while as my scales got broke but I've bought some new ones. It was just under a month ago that I weighed him but he was also weighed at the vets. Sadly I didn't have my weight book with me at the time so I couldn't write the weight.

Yes I do plan to take him to the vet again but I'm wondering if I should take him to another one. This one was supposed to be a guinea pig specialist yet as I said she told me she wasn't sure what it was. I'd like to find another if any hertfordshire users know of one.

Also sorry for late replies, I'm cleaning out my other set of boars between replying. :)
