Hi everyone 🐷❤️

I would like advice because I am currently on holiday and missing my piggies... I am getting anxious that my mum won’t be looking after them well even though I took a load of time writing instructions for her. Any advice? I’d be grateful if you replied!

You just have to try to relax and have trust in your mum. They may not get the same standard of care you would provide but as long as they get adequate care then that's what matters. The first holiday is always going to be difficult but once you know they will be fine it becomes much easier in future
 
I agree with Kelly. The first time leaving your piggies behind is always difficult. But you have to trust in your Mum and if she has any issues I’m sure she’ll contact you. And the good thing is that you have something to look forward to at the end of the holidays - being reunited with your piggies. It makes the homecoming less difficult.
 
Missing the piggies is part of loving them but there is no reason to worry if your mum is looking after them.
Enjoy your holiday and look forward to seeing them again when you get home
 
We have just returned from 5 weeks away, and all of us worried a lot about our guinea pigs.
But it is not possible for us to be with hem all the time, and we make the best possible arrangements for their care when we are gone.
The reality is that they don't receive the same level of care as when we are at home, but I am confident that the care they receive is excellent, and it isn't forever.

Something that really helps is that we ask that the pet sitter sends us photos once a week.
It is lovely to see them, and also have a sneaky check that their cages look clean too.

But overall I think you need to trust your Mum (or whoever you chose to look after your piggies) and enjoy your holiday.
 
You just have to trust your Mum will look after them. I left an Idiot's Guide with my piggy sitters when I was on holiday for 2 weeks a couple of weeks ago. I was extremely anxious because my Christian has to have Metacam twice a day every day and it was in the middle of the heat wave. My piggies were fine and Christian had his Metacam. The only problem was that depite leaving strict instructions about how many pellets they should have, they still had far to many. Other than that I had no complaints.
 
When I was away recently my foster piggies (and Felix) went to stay with their auntie Helen (@The Potteries Guinea Pig Rescue) who gave me regular updates. And my own group went to the fabulous Booboos Bunny Hotel where my piggies have been going for years. The owners there send me regular updates and video footage through WhatsApp. The updates really help.
There is another thread on here where a member has been FaceTiming their piggies. I’ll see if I can find it.
