Hi, i am new to this forum! i was wondering if it’s a good idea to introduce a new guinea pig into my family. i currently have 2 boars (around a year old) that live in a 2x6 c&c. i have enough room for at least 1 other boar but i’m worried it will cause trouble.. any opinions? Thanks,Zoe

Welcome to the forum

Unfortunately adding another boar to a bonded pair of boars is a recipe for disaster. Boars can only live in pairs and attempting to add a third will cause fights Between them. You will end up with the new piggy being alone. As a worst case scenario, it can also break the bond between your current two meaning you actually end up with three single piggies.

If you wanted more piggies, you would have to have a separate boar pair, in a separate cage. You couldn’t add any females either (two boys cannot live with any females as again it’ll cause fights) and any females in the same room (even though they would be in a separate cage) would also cause fights between your current two boys.

I'm just wondering where you would get the piggies. I'm asking because of Covid-19. It doesnt seem like a good idea as it would include unnecesarry contact and all the reasons @Piggies&buns already stated

Welcome to the forum.
I perfectly understand the desire for more piggies but the advice @Piggies&buns has given you is excellent.
We would love to see pictures of your piggies

this is a picture of them from when i had to give them a medicated bath. They’re names are Punk and Funk. Punk (short-haired) Funk (long-haired)

Very handsome boars.
I’m afraid I agree that the best thing to do is nothing. You have a happy pair of boars and it’s best not to do anything that might upset that bond. A trio of boars very rarely works and can result in even broken bonds so you could end up with 3 singles who refuse to live together. I’d just enjoy the pair that you have.
