One of our boys, Benjamin, developed a head tilt last Sunday, and is now being treated for a middle ear infection and mites. Ever since he became ill, he's been getting impactions. Does illness and general lethargy weaken bowel strength? Aside from the impactions, he also has very mushy poop all the way down to the bottom of his sac, everyday. There are also caecal pellets smeared in different parts of the cage, which I would imagine are from him, and not from his brother. How could he pass those fully and not anything else?

No, we're not. The vet only gave him one long-acting shot of antibiotics, and didn't mention probiotics.
