Junior Guinea Pig
Hello all,
I wanted to write Rudi's tribute earlier, but the pain was too big, too raw. And now, with Matilde passing away on Sunday, the weight of this goodbye is doubled, yet it is also a testament to the deep love my husband and I had for both of them.
Rudi was a gentle soul with eyes that could melt anyone’s heart with just one look. He taught us what courage and strength look like, as he overcame battles with pneumonia. And then, when the tumour came for him, he fought like a real warrior until the very end. He ultimately decided it was time for him to go over the Rainbow Bridge, and say his goodbyes.
Matilde was a dumpling of sweetness and brilliance, and brought her own unique light into our lives. She made us laugh every single day, and was a real joy to behold. She also had the deepest love for her brother, Rudi, and cared for him until the very end of his days. I really believe that her spirit couldn't bear to be apart from her beloved Rudi, and, once she knew mom and dad were going to be ok with her 2 new sisters, she decided to depart for the Rainbow Bridge to be reunited with him.
The pain of their absence is profound, but they left and enduring legacy, and thanks to them our family grew bigger. When the sorrow we feel today will start to quiet down the memories of their playful adventures, their tender cuddles, and the shared moments of sheer happiness will continue to shine brightly. Rudi and Matilde have left a void impossible to fill, but the love they bestowed upon us will forever endure.
May their little souls be reunited across the Rainbow Bridge. Running through meadows of eternal green shielded away from pain and sorrow. May they be free to run around and popcorn happily with our other beloved piggies who grew wings and flew to the Rainbow Bridge before them. You are all beloved beyond words!
With profound love and lasting memories,
Mom
