Hello. My guinea pig has gotten really inactive over the last couple of days. He has his left nipple swollen and he seems sick. He hasn't stopped eating though. The availability for intensive treatment, even an ordinary exotic vet is almost non-existent around where i live. Might I get some suggestions as to what to do?

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear your piggy is unwell. Only a vet can diagnose the problem. A general vet will be fine if you don’t have an exotic near you
All you can do at home is to ensure your piggy is still eating (by weighing him to ensure no weight is lost) but this will obviously not cure wherever is the medical issue.

Hi!

You need to see a vet; it sounds like a potential mammary tumour, which can be both benign as well as malign but which needs to come out in any case. Boars can get mammary tumours as well.

My guinea pig Bill had a mammary lump/tumour removed less than a month ago just under his nipple and he has been absolutely fine. I would see a general vet very soon and find out what the problem is. All general vets have experience removing lumps and bumps, it does not necessarily matter which animal it is, what’s important you see a vet so you can get him better x

Welcome to the forum and sorry that your piggy is unwell.
We do understand that it’s hard when there is limited access to a vet but the reality is that only a vet can help you.
Holding you in my thoughts
