Rambo our runt who will be staying with us is going to be an indoor piggy but I'm thinking about where the best place to put him is.

Bedrooms = Out of the question
Kitchen = worried about heat fluctuations due to cooking and tumble dryer
Playroom= No because I'd have to police it constantly
Living Room= Possible but He'd be lonely because we barely use it

This leaves the music room/study which is where we spend most of our time when not out with the others but my question is How sensitive are their ears ?

Tomz is in my bedroom - and although i don't play my music terribley loud anyways he seems quite happy.

I think he is just quite happy to have constant company and sound in the background.

My two indoor piggies are in the kitchen extension. They are near the dryer but the dryer which I don't have on much, has a pipe that goes out of the window which is next to the dryer so the window is open when the dryer is on and the warm air goes out of the window. The cooker is at the other end of the kitchen so it doesn't really affect them.

I've got other worries with regard to the kitchen, our tumble is a condenser so no outpipe, It's a large room but oven is one end and boiler and rad is the other also being at the rear of the house If we ever leave our back door or window open I often have to shoo neighbours cats out. The music room is ideally located and the real hub of the home but like I said I'm not sure on their tolerance to loud noise.
The girls would love to have him in their bedrooms but the 7 year would end up sleeping with him and my 4 year old is asthmatic so don't want hay in her room

my piggies are in the dining room, which tehcincally is a room which is used to store our boxes and computer room whilst we are staying there for the time being.

i think you should have them where you can see them, but making sure its too hot or cold. As long as your kitchen doesnt have extreme temperatures and not directly near the oven or tumble dryer (quite a distance away) they should be ok.

My girls are kept in the dining area (which isn't really for dining at the moment) which sits just off the livingroom - they seem to be quiet content there. However, once I get the spare room decorated they may possibly get moved through there - although possibly only in the summer as I don't have heating and it's a bit cold through there at the moment.

George and Alfie have pride of place in my living room. they always have lots of company, and if we our out, usually the tv on too:)). It really boils down to where you think they will be better off, but which ever room you decide to put them in, I'm sure you will give them lots of fuss and love ^)

for the music room it would take a bit for them to get use to it but i don't think it will hurt there ears. my hubby practices guitar all day and my guineas noticed it (ran and hide when loud noises came) for about a week then after that they dont even notice it anymore

Our piglets are in the lounge (right next to my desk) so they're very much the centre of the family. I study to some pretty heavy going music but they don't complain - they seem rather fond of slipknot!

I wouldn't have them in the kitchen or dining room as we don't spend much time in there and the bedroom is not a place for animals (at least, I don't think so) so the lounge is the only option really.

My four live in my lounge which we are in most of the day they get to watch a lot of nick jr with my 3 year old. They seem very happy in there. Like you i was worried about the noise but they seem fine with it and we all know how noisey a 3 year old can be

mine live in the dining/sitting room - their cage and run extention goes along a whole wall, in one corner we have a chinchilla that we rescued and just seems to be permanently trying to get to sleep and we also have 2 psychotic gerbils. My son practices his flute in there as well every single day and they don't run away or anything so i presume they are not bothered by it, even Dylan the chinchilla just sits there, chins ears are supposed to be very sensitive; they do wiggle a bit when Joe hits the high notes but he doesn't hide in his box or make any agitated noises. The gerbils don't take any notice either but if they cant chew it they aren't interested in anything!i think they just get used to it and accept that us giants make some pretty weird noises sometimes!:)):))

I would put them wherever they will get the most attention.:)):))
