Hi,

I have my new piggies and they are settling into their cage at the moment as I only collected them on Sunday.

I am just wondering what you all do with your pigs to allow them the excercise they need when they are indoors.

Do you have indoors runs, do you allow them to run in the house etc?

I would really appreciate your advice on this as I am looking for the cleanest, safest and best option for my new girls.

Thanks, Kerri x

hiya, mine are caged inside, in a biiiig cage, but i get them out for a run in my kitchen where i have a vinyl floor which is easy to clean, so i just bung all the gaps and put some paper down for them to pee on (but never do) and a few interesting obstacles, when they get a bit older and bigger, they can also venture into the hallway as that too is vinyl floor.

Other than that we just have snuggle time where we hug and watch tv.

Enjoy your babies x

Some people on here have indoor runs. :) My 3 are usually outside in their run eating the grass but if it's a cold day or grass is wet I set up somewhere for them to exercise inside. :) I don't have an indoor run so I just put down newspaper and towels and make a barrier using boxes, fill the make shift run with toys and the piggies have a great time! :(|)

If the lid of your indoor cage comes off, you could put it on the floor and use it as an indoor run, although your probably best getting an indoor run (or making one) because they will have more space to run around. ;)

i get a cheap meter of carpet down in the hallway where there's no furniture to munch/hide behind/underneath and no wires to chew. I give them tubes and houses, a few nibbles and sit with them. When finished, I collect the poop and roll the carpet up, place in store cupboard and voila!

Mine have the run of the living room all day long, but it is not to be recommended if you are living in rented accommodation. Also, not everybody in your family/friends will be comfy with the concept!

There are quite a few ways to create a cheap run - you can use anything from tarpaulin, cheap shower curtains, an offcut of lino for flooring...

That must be so great. :) Are they quite good to use the toilet in one place or do you have to follow them round with a dustpan and brush and tissues? :)) I used to let Moxie and Cenci run around the conservatory before they got their big outdoor run, and they just pooped everywhere rolleyes like behind the couch and in other hard to get places, but they were only babies so I guess they couldn't control it. :)

Thanks for the ideas, I will sort something out for them soon.

I have a hallway that they could have free run of with nowhere to escape, I will get them some tunnels etc to have fun with.

MrsM, I noticed in one of your older posts that you visited Irene @ Cavy Haven, that is where I got my babies from :)!

All yours, may I ask how many?

Yeah she is lovely, would recommend her to everyone.

Amazing set-up, don't know how I managed to leave with only 2! I could have stayed there all day just admiring!

I really recommend the ball pit from the early learning centre! It's currently on offer for £9. My two young piggies have been in it twice now and they are loving it today! They are jumping everywhere with excitement! I put a shower curtain and newspaper down to waterproof it. You can then fold it up and pack it away when not it use.
