I'm taking a boar i had in last week has he had bad impaction on empying him yesterday it was very hard to remove think its called a plug once it was removed which took around 1 hr of soaking etc,,there was lots of green puss sqirting out i gave 0.2mls baytril put I'm going collect jenny from the vets today:( so taking him has well does anyone know much about this?

Impaction is very common. Even a large lump should take no more than one minute to remove!
There is no need to soak the area, jusrt roll the lump out of the sac. There is no need to apply any ointment/cream etc to the area. If you feel obliged to clean the area just use plain water.
You will not find pus as part of a normal impaction. The soft, first pass "pellets" can be green.
I would not give him any antibiotics.

it wouldnt come out on its own it was so stuck in looked like greese hair etc but it was further up than eny other guinea i have seen once i managed to remove it lots of green puss came ozing out every where like green liquid it was just running out the impaction was rock hard

I normally find that a small amount of vaseline massaged in can help a bit, but as already said, it shouldn't take very long to do at all.

(The only thing i can think it might be is that the droppings have really compacted together and the liquid is actually the moisture from the soft pellets that has been kept in by the impaction 'plug'. As soon as you managed to release the blockage, the liquid ran out as well.)

I wouldn't give him any anti-biotics as that can 'slow' things down a bit anyway - just lots of really nice hay!

Best of luck with him.

hubby just got back from the vets with this piggy and the vet sez he has a massive infection which antibiotics alone will not work he has given me a saline aerosol spray which i have to do 5times a day has the infection is that bad hubby said when the vet opened the sack up lots of green puss oozed out every where he is now on 0.5miles of baytril twice a day and the saline aerosol sprays 5 times a day if it was the normal moisture you get would around 10mls just come pouring out as soon has the bum is parted?
also it was that bad of an impaction any kind of cream /oil wouldnt have got it out it was soooooo so bad ive never seen anything like this before..

Ouch! I thought that what you were describing did not sound like impaction, but this is really awful! I hope that the poor boy can make it through!

I wish you and him the best of luck!

PS: What a horrible day for you! I really feel for you; make sure that you have a little treat for yourself tonight.
