Hi was wondering if anyone has any ideas how to help. Mushkin had a cut on his nose thought silly sausage he just caught it on something, so took him up to give him a wash, pushed down on it and TMI ALERT... a lot of puss came out. so took him to vets she gave me baytril for him to to take orally and told me to try to keep the cut clean by squeezing out the puss as much as possible (hard going as the smell is horrid) so been doing so best I can, warm water on cotton wool nice cuddle while I press down on his nose. it scabs over but is still pussing so everytime i clean it i have to move to scab.

Am i doing the right thing by cleaning the cut with just warm water cotton wool and good squeeze couple times a day or should I be putting a solution into water to help?

Are you using salt water? I use salt water for all cuts as its antibacterial and helps cuts heal, if there is puss there you need to remove the scab every time it scabs over till there is no puss but blood.

no i didnt think to use salt water, thank you.how much would you put in the water roughly? it seems to be a lot better today, light at the end of the tunnel finally for my poorly lil guy. hes still not getting out of having a clean though =)

I usually boil water and fill a normal coffee mug then add 2-3 tspns of salt and mix to dissolve it. Allow it to cool before applying. This is also known as saline solution which you can usually buy tubes of from your vet or pharmacy if that's easier. Hope this helps
