Why do my piggies always get ill on a sunday?:( I'm after some information please. I noticed this morning that my girl Paprika is holding her front right paw up, she can pitch on it but not alot. She hasnt been dropped, she cant fall from anywhere, when she goes in and out of the hutch its about three inches from hutch to floor and there is always a fleecy blanket for them to land on. So I'm thinking she hasn't broken it, possibly stood on something - maybe a pellet and twisted it or wrenched it from running around. I'm going to phone the vets and ask them if they can give me some metacam to give her until I can get her to the vets if they say no then can anybody give me the correct dosage of nurofen/calpol that I can give her. She weighs about 1000g. Thanks

i wouldnt give any childrens pain killers... i know alot of people reccomend it... but if theres an underlying problems with her the last thing you want to do is push her over the edge... (i learned this the hard way...)

maybe shes had a fight with another cage mate...?
have you had a look for anything obvious like something stuck inbetween her tiny pads...
x

I've just had another look, there is no obvious injury- no swelling or blood. I've even trimmed her nails thinking one of them might have been abit too long and giving her discomfort. I've also moved her shoulder around and shes not grumbled about it. I know piggies are very good at hiding problems but she didn't even wriggle when I did it.

Hi love how's Paprika's little foot today ? :...

Thanks for the healing vibes. shes still holding it up but not so much, shes not been out to 'play' at all plenty of cage rest and extra treats and cuddles. It was impossible for me to get her to the vets today so she has an appointment tomorrow. I've checked it over again today and the appearance/ feel of it hasnt changed from yesterday. Will keep you posted. x

Just brought Pappi back and the vet has diagnosed a soft tissue injury so a dose of metacam and cage rest. If there is no improvement towards the latter part of the week he recommended an x-ray. Fingers crossed it is the original diagnosis.

Sprains can happen. It may take a few days to heal, so don't be upset if there is not much betterment quickly.
