So one of my guinea pigs cookie likes to poop in her hide. where ever it is. every day twice a day I'll move it. pile of poops in the corner. like on one hand it makes cleaning of it fairly simple but she also pee's on it. making it a good area for mold if i dont deal with it every day and move the hide to another spot.
my main worry is she does sleep in that hide too and that can't smell good.... its incredible how much she can produce in 8 hours when i'm working/sleeping. Is this a problem going to be a problem in the long run? should be washing the fleeces more often (as is i'm doing it every 2-3 days with daily to twice daily poop sweepings).

The guilty piggy in question.

This is normal and won’t be a problem provided you keep the cage clean and continue doing as you are - poop pick daily and change fleece every few days or so.
You can use fleece pee pads under hides as you can remove those move often if they are wet

It’s a piggy thing!
For some reason pooping in the sleeping are is fun.
I think they do it deliberately to keep us amused.
Beautiful girl, Cookie

:agr: it's definitely a piggy thing. There is nothing my skinny pigs like more than to sleep in a fleece hidey full of their own poop.

Just keep up the good work of cleaning it away twice a day and piggies will know they have got you properly trained.:D

One of my boys goes into his hide to poop, he then sleeps in it. I change the pee pad at least once a day usually twice. Red is rather prone to UTIs and I suspect it's because he lies in a lot of poop. You can only do your best and clean when you are there to do it, all my other pigs poop where they are at the time!
