I live in Bahrain but will be relocating to Austria in the future. Has anyone had experience taking their piggies in the cabin of an aircraft?

Ive no experience, but have you checked the airline you are using will allow them to travel in the cabin?
I know from other posts when these kinds of questions pop up that most won’t allow it, albeit most posts we have seem to be to or from the US/UK.
Also remember to check quarantine rules.

There are threads in the link above that may give you some pointers. Particularly the Europe one although the poster was travelling from mainland Europe to the UK before Brexit. Most airlines will only transport guinea pigs in the hold if they will transport them at all.
Good luck! Let us know how you get on.

I'm struggling to find any airline from Bahrain that will fly my boys in the cabin. I’ve contacted a pet relocation company to find out my options.

I did look at this thread, i really wanted the boys to travel with me in the cabin but that’s looking unlikely. I'm waiting to hear back from a professional so hopefully i can take them even if they have to travel in the hold. I couldn’t bear to leave my boys behind 😞
I will post my experience! Thank you

I think that is quite common now - most won’t allow them in the cabin.

Good luck

It’s looking likely i cannot travel with my boys in the cabin 😞. After much online research the majority of opinion seems to be if they have to go in cargo they will not travel well.
I'm torn between trying to find a good home here and leaving them behind or putting them through the stress of travelling in the hold..
What would others do?

I know how you must be feeling, I couldn't bear the thought of leaving our piggies behind if we were in the same situation as you.....they are family.
If time isn't an issue, would it be worth considering travelling over land in instalments? Not sure how it would work with quarantine rules etc. though. Probably sounds a bit daft, but out of interest I did look on google maps to see what was what, and got this as a rough guide!

Good luck and best wishes, and hope your move works out okay for you all in the end.
