I've been trying to introduce my Guinea pigs together in hope that they will get along and today was the 4th time I've introduced them and every time I've introduce them they've been having scuffles and it's making me a little scared because I don't want them to have a fight. But something that's been confusing me is that I keep them separated in two different cages so they can see, smell, and talk to each other and my younger sow Teddy is chewing the wire to get to the other side where my older sows Lily and Coco are but when I introduce them Teddy is always the first one to start the scuffles and I was wondering if she was chewing the wire because she feels lonely or because she wanted to make sure my older Guinea pigs know that she means business. I really want to try to introduce them again but I don't know if I should. Also another question I have is when do I know my sows are in season? Because I've never seen any of my sows hump each other but sometimes they can be a bit moody and show their dominance more. Does that mean their in season?

If anyone can answer my questions that would be great! 😊

Introducing guinea pigs can be a bit fraught at times.

The most important thing (imho) is to make sure you do it properly, and to fully understand that what might look 'mean' or 'rough' to us is often just normal guinea pig behavior.
Of course it is important to know the difference so things don't escalate into a full blown fight.

I would start with this guide:
Behaviour, Bonding & Bereavement Guides

It was written by a Forum member with many years of experience bonding piggies and contains lots of valuable information.

As far as knowing when you sows come into season, this can be a bit hit and miss.
I have one sow who makes it plain as day by having a really moody, noisy 12 - 24 hours, and another one who has never shown any signs of being in season, and we have had her 2 years!. So I think it varies a lot from pig to pig.
