Unfortunately I seem to be having a bit of a pellet nightmare with the pigs.
We started them on Bunny complete, which they stopped eating within a few days of being home.
We then switched to Vitakraft Professional Probiotic which they fell in love with. They have been doing really well on this food, and when I went to buy a new bag I was told that Vitakraft are discontinuing it - arghhh.
So I did what everyone in Switzerland does when they can't get stuff here - I looked in Germany, and it is being discontinued there too.
So I bought a bag of the Vitakraft complete food which is the replacement for the old food, and is apparently 'exactly the same'.
Well it isn't exactly the same, and the piggies hate it.
When we fill their bowls they systematically remove it, shake it around, throw it on the floor of their cage and pee on it. :vom:
It's getting old very quickly and last week all of them had lost weight

Just wondering if anyone uses Versele-Laga Cavia Complete pellets for their piggies?

And are you happy with it?
Do your pigs seem to like it and do well on it?
I am running out of options here as most stores don't stock a huge range of pelleted type food - sadly muesli mixes are still quite common.

Hm I remember getting those for Teddy when he was a tiny fluffball and he didn't like them much, but he was quite a picky eater when he was a baby so... not really useful advice.

Wanted to post anyways to thank you, because the Vitakraft are the ones my boyfriend gets, so I'll warn him about that! Thank you x

You can actually still get it from online suppliers in Germany (the Vitakraft one) but I think that as it gets harder to get I need to find an alternative.
Plus it does seem slightly ridiculous to drive to another country every time the guinea pigs need new food!

Told him all you said so he can be aware of it just in case!
Yes, it's a bit crazy to drive all that for the piggies food, especially when there are more alternatives!

I used to use the Cavia Complete for more than 10 years. Back in the day, this used to be the only plain pellet guinea pig food in Bulgaria. The pigs didn't like it initially, but warmed up to it after a couple of months. They did reasonably well on this food, but pellets never was a big part of their diet. I switched to Oxbow now that it's more freely available, mostly because of the much higher fiber content.

Have you tried Beaphar Nature? It's comparable quality to Cavia Complete and most likely readily available.

Amazon stocks Oxbow - last time I purchased it at £13.23 for 4.5 kg with free delivery.
