Just wondering, Is mange from a hedgehog transferable to guinea pigs? I believe they are a different mite?

Mites are species specific. The ones guinea pigs can come down with are trixacarus caviae (guinea pig mange mite) and chirodiscoides caviae (guinea pig hay mite). Mites from another species may jump on board but will leave as quickly as they can't survive on a different species. ;)

Thanks for that, that was helpful.

Oh, I’m glad you have confirmed this, we have so many hedgehogs in our garden, the vet said they are species specific!

Just to ask, can guinea pig mites transfer to humans?

No, they can rarely cause a very temporary rash on people with a sensitivity but they can't survive on another species. 'Other species' also incudes humans. ;)
There is not much that can transmit between rodents and primates.
