My wee boy isn't to well and really off his food and I am battling to get something down him, this morning he happily accepted 5mls via a syringe of PJs Strawberry and banana smoothie which contains Strawberries, Apples, oranges and grapes some of the juices are from concentrate. But I am a bit unsure whather this is safe to give a piggy.

I am going to try him with a little bit of porridge as well.

Thanks he's got me worried sick the poor wee mite.

I know it may sound a bit silly but I have been in tears watching him go through all he's got through and knowing that he's already been through so much, I brought him here so that he could enjoy his retirement but the poor lad had to face so many problems since his arrival.

what about veggie smoothies as well, i gave heniz simples to aggie when her teeth fell out full of vit

I would say if he is taking it, its better than not taking anything, but as has been said, if you have a blender, you could blend your own mix of veggies/fruit as well as CC or mushed pellets? Also organic baby food (veg/fruit only) is good. Is he eating anything on his own? or are you just worried he isn`t eating enough?

He's eating very little at all the odd nibble on some greens and a couple of pellets and thats it, he had a poorly tummy as a result of anti biotics. He's bright and perky in himself

Oh poor little chap! Hope he's on the mend soon. A guy once told me that guineas are really clever little animals as they almost never eat anything that is bad for them - so if he's liking it then why not?! Best wishes and wheeks to him xxxxxxxx

hi i just noticed this thread, there is a line of baby foods called Ella's Kitchen and tesco stock it, basically its puree veg/fruit with nothing else at all added, its extra smooth so goes up syringes very easily, and they have a range of flavours my gucci used to love it :) it comes in brightly coloured packets that you keep in the fridge once they have been opened but you can have them in the cupboard for emergencies, i have they have a good date on them :) forgot to mention its all organic that they use too!

no problem, i always have one in just incase someone goes off their food :) its good to mix into CC to get them to eat it too

Wanda hope sweep picks up soon, we know exactly how you feel our foster piggy murphy is poorly. Got him on Science recovery syringe feeding started it tonight and thankfully he is taking it well infact he is going mad for it.

Lots of love from all of us x x x :smitten:

Glad this thread is here, going to try Cuzzy on smoothies and baby food (just simple carrot or something like that)

Hope Sweep is ok. Poor thing he has been through it.

Good luck with the smoothies!

you could make your own from carrots etc whizz it up and pop it in ice cube trays and freeze it, pop the cubes out into freezer bags it has a long date on it too and u just take out what you need defrost it and then syringe its dead cheap and not much waste and you know whats in it!

That's a great idea for building them up after getting them off CC. Cuzzy didn't like the smoothie. Don't blame him, it stunk! :D

I bought some of the organic baby from Tesco to keep in for emergencies, luckily not needed it yet but it does have long use by dates while it remains unopened.
