i have 5 males in one Nero 3 cage i know that sounds alot but there is 3 baby's in there so there is enough room but with so many males in one space the dominance is getting a little 2 much i think as there is a few trying 2 be "the boss" i do i have a outdoor hutch that i could some in is it too cold for them?

i don't want to put my piggies in any danger!

i do have however stuff 2 build a c&c cage but were it is going isn't suitbale yet so i cant even do that! ? :-\

Could you have the outdoor inside (I've done that before now).

It is due to be minus 5 degrees c tonight here, so it would be a great risk, especially for the babies.

Hope it is helpful :)

I have a hutch indoors, no problems! If you can, let it air out inside for a day or so first ;)

Sounds like you've got a bit of a problem there. With that amount of males, even babies, in a small cage you are going to get problems soon. But I definitely wouldn't put them out at this time of year, too much of a change in temperature from inside to out and definitely too cold for babies. Are you sure there isn't somewhere else inside they could go?

no I'm afraid i am trying to ask my mum and see if she wants any just 2 make my piggies alot happier and that way i can still see them 8)

I wouldn't put them outside, it's freezing here in Liverpool and going to get colder. You could try c&c cages or have a look at zooplus. Boars do need a lot of space because of the dominance thing.

Is there a shed or a garage that they could go in?
If there is then obviously that would be better than the outside but it is still freezing out there.
If you absolutely have to put them in the shed or outside, make sure they have plenty of have and invest in a blanket that is soft on one side and water-proof on the other. Drape it over the hutch at night and put it over the top and back of the hutch at night.
However it is still very cold out there (even for adult piggies) and if it all possible it should be avoided

You're only 10 miles down the road from me. No way should they go outside into even to an outbuilding now - the temperature has hit below -5 in the last month in our area. It was -4 in my mum's greenhouse last week and -2 in the garage.

Do you have more than one cage you could use? Perhaps check on freecycle or local charity shops for one? You can stack cages. 5 pigs, no matter what age, in a Nero 3 is a accident waiting to happen - it's barely suitable for two adult piggies. I have a small Ferplast cage that would house one or two temporarily if you're really pushed. I never use it any more unless a pig is sick and needs to be seperated (been about 2 years) so if you want to borrow it let me know. Personally I would be rushing to try and get the C&C arrangement sorted.

I have just checked and its minus 4 here tonight,No way could indoor piggies go outside now.
Could you not split the 3 babies into a seperate indoor cage at least that might calm the trouble down

yeah it is far 2 cold but just wanted 2 ask everyone elses opinion i do have a garage but the door is broken and is a nightmare 2 open and shut even then they could still be freezing out there no matter how much heat i try and give them.

Daftscotlass i have already asked this in my other thread could you tell me where exactly you are from and we could maybe arrange something if i can find room 2 squeeze in another cage somewhere.

you can send me a private message if you like. ;)

Sounds like a daft suggestion, but can the hutch be brought inside and the cage placed on top of it? I'd not like my pigs outside, its really dropped in temp in the last 12 hrs here.

i will let you know as soon as possible as I'm having a few home matters at the minute
