Two days ago I switch my 3 year old guinea pig's bedding from Pine shavings to KayTee soft bedding. I also put vitamins in his water because he had snotty nose. This morning I noticed giant soft pouches on each side of his neck. He seems to be eating as usual, but stays in his bed more than usual. The pouches or what worries me, any ideas?

It sounds like he has got some sort of infection , the swellings you mention are probabaly
His cervical lymph nods,
Lymph nods are filters (for want of better word )
If they are swolen then it is probabaly because they are buzzy filtering toxins (in an ideal world the lymph node's throughout the body will filter and eat any think that shouldn't be there , but when thay are swolen , then the toxins in his body are to much for his system to deal with , and need help !!

I would strongly surjest you get you pig to the vets A S A P, as it sounds as his lymphatic
System is under a lot of strain and anti biotics may me needed to help with the fight

The only other thing l can think of is that he has got an absess, but one one each side of the neck is not lightly,
I would strongly suspect the swelling are as l said cervical lymph nods .

I would get him to the vet tonight ,!!! .

Yes, you'll need to go to the vet like gizzy suggests.

A snotty nose is a sign of an upper respiratory infection and so needs antibiotics.

The swollen neck isn't a good sign. A vet will give you appropriate medication.

By the way l wouldent put vitermins in the water it could put him off drinking as much as is nessesary.
Also if left for several hours there is a danger of the water stating to ferment!
Take the top off and smell ! Fermenting water smells like beer

Please have your piggy seen by a vet as soon as possible. It sounds like the lymph nodes are swollen. It can be an infection or lymphoma (cancer), but only a vet can tell you. It is a serious issue.
A snotty nose can point towards a respiratory infection if it is thick (URI; can kill if left untreated), yellowish snot or an irritation/allergy if it is clear fluid that is coming out.

Good that you have stopped pine shavings; they are not recommended at all for guinea pigs.

Please switch to weighing your piggy daily and if he subdued start topping him up with syringe feed and water as pain/discomfort will impact on his eating. Up to 80% of the daily food intake is hay, which you cannot control.
