There all males and died at 3 and 4 and 4 x

How big was the bottle? Just curious because if it were only a small bottle it may not have been a lot of water x

Aww, they were gorgeous and I am sorry you lost them young :(

Drinking more water than usual can be a sign of a number of things including diabetes and kidney problems.

My Eleanor sadly died last year of kidney failure. Unfortunately for us, she was in the later stages when we found out but she lost a lot of weight and drank almost a full bottle of water to herself daily. Sadly I didn't realise as I had four piggies and didn't pick up on the fact that she was drinking a lot until afterwards when I noticed the water bottles wasn't emptying very fast.

If in doubt, always see a vet as there are many causes

Poor guys. Drinking a lot can be a sign of kidney issues or diabetes. It's possible to test for diabetes with a simple urine dip at the vet's (my vet does it routinely anytime their urine is tested for anything.) I'm not sure how they check for kidney problems in guinea pigs. I am guessing blood and urine tests (but that's based on my own kidney issues, not my pigs'!

Drinking a lot can be a sign of illness (most commonly what people have already said, kidney disease or diabetes), but can also be other illnesses. If in doubt then have them looked over by a piggie savvy vet to put your mind at ease. Also check the bottle for leaks, this can make it look like they have drank a huge amount when the bottle is dripping and constantly leaking.

x.

Also some pigs just drink more than others,I have an old lady who drinks a lot and there is nothing wrong with her,and a boar who hardly ever drank - but will drink loads if I syringe it to him - can just be the way they are.

yeah it was hard watching them all go one by one but they had no physical signs of being unwell x
