Do the spores which cause fungal infections in piggies affect humans? I mean could we inhale them? Or am i just going mad now? :-X

Rinworm is a zoonosis, a condition which can pass from animal to human, but it shouldn't cause respiratory problems...well not that I am aware of. I've cared for many guineas with fungal infections and have never had a problem. Obviously good hygiene is a must, gloves should be worn while handling and bathing them etc. Cages scrubbed and old towels dumped after use.
Guineas like cats and other animals may carry ringworm but show no symptoms, that is why bathing new guinea pigs with anti fungal shammpoo is a must in my books! better safe than sorry :
