So my old boy Benji is accident prone lately... hes been dropping weight. i got him checked for worms and was on a dewormer(younger boar tested positive for worms). then had a dental visit to check his teeth. everything came back fine, no one kind tell why hes dropping weight. NOW today i found this red "scab" on his rear by his gland. doesnt cause him stress or pain while i was looking at it. any ideas before i pay another large vet bill?20170214_162425.webp 20170214_162415.webp

It is hard to tell but it looks quite deep?
Maybe a bite wound?
Does he seem to get on with his cage mate ok?

If he is loosing weight and has had his teeth checked then I would probably take him back to the vet to rule out other underlying causes.
I know for example that our boar Eddi got small sores on his back when he had mites.
There are lots of reasons he could have a sore like that - it could even be self inflicted of he is feeling particulary itchy due to a skin complaint.
I would go back to the vet and have it checked to be honest.

Yes him and his brother get on very well. i yook hime back to the vets for blood work and it came back inconclusive.. meaning they dont know whats causing his wieghtloss and they think its a bite mark onhis back but said there isnt a way to tell..
