Hi :)p

I wasnt actually looking for another piggy... but came across this poor guy on my local free ads.. he's 3yrs old and (what looks like) been living with rabbits..

http://www.wightbay.com/XCClassifieds/CPViewItem.asp?ID=3469582

now I have the time and funds.. but from my set up posted here http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=62196

the "spare" cage (on the end of the C&C cage) is that big enough for a male piggy.. (and would it be cruel to house him living above my females like that?)

what i would to do is when i have a clear out i could probally fit another 2x4 C&C cage or a 2X3(with a level) in the same room as the females..

I would appeciate if people would be honest and think if this is either a good idea or cruel? as bare in mind he would be living the rest of his days at home with me..

I forgot to add... my piggies are only housed this way for the winter i do have hutches/runs for my females for the spring/summer and i do have a 3ftx2ftx2ft spare hutch for my male piggy to house in.. (i would also get a run for this)

For life, no. For getting him out of a not very nice looking hutch with rabbits, a cornflakes box would be big enough!

I don't think it would be cruel, far better than being either totally alone or with kicking bunnies. Being able to hear your girls will be nice for him I am sure, remind him what guinea pigs sound like!

And just so you know, he won't need bathing as often as they say, a brush once a week and the odd trim should be enough to keep him matt free.

thats what I thought.. a good brushing would do ( allready own a texel piggy) and i brush her every other day with no problems..

ok.. well i shall have to leave Mr piggy.. as in that case i don't have a big enough cage for him at the moment.. although i do feel so sorry for him and where he is living...:( although I am now tempted to get a longer indoor cage at some point after I/IF i re-home him

I am suprised that the sound of the females would make him happy.. (i thought it would stress him out not being able to get to them)

I'm not too sure size wise sorry! Someone will come on with more knowledge, I only have groups of two but is extending your C & C cage an option? its fab by the way!

No i can't extend it.. just make another small one... but Ive had an idea anyway.. i can fit a 3ft or maybe 4ft indoor cage at the foot of the C&C cage if i get a table (which is what I have) to prop it up on the right hand side.. but in the mean time i only have that 2ft cage spare

Esther, I would still go get him now if you feel strongly about him. My boys have to live in a cage that size after neutering and they are fine, and if you get a slightly bigger cage in a couple of weeks that is next to the C&C he can speak to the girls through the bars!

I'd say he is too old for neutering personally, but depends on the vet and their experience and the piggies general health...still 3 is getting on a wee bit.

If I had space, any space, I wouldn't be able to leave a pig with bunnies, and with you he gets to talk to piggies rather than going with someone who keeps him alone for the rest of his life.. :(

:)) :)) many thanx. It doest take much to convince me on things.. ive tried contacting the owner but knowone is answering her phone...lol so i sent a message..rolleyes i just feel so sorry for the poor buy and tbh if this piggy is her "baby" in what she is saying then why is he scared/timid of humans, gets matted and has to be bathed not brushed, and lives with bunnies and no other piggies :(

i do wonder with some people.. there is also 2 other piggy people on my free ads one in paticular keeps giving away free piggies (all texel variaties) and then on other posts sells babies..god knows what her house/garden looks like.. and another person selling "show standard" piggies..grrrr sorry.. i shouldnt really look at the free ads..lol
