image.webp My trio aren't showing any signs of ill health in their behaviour. They're running about, eating plenty and very alert & inquisitive. I've noticed though that when their pee drys it leaves what seems to be a lot of white staining. I took this photo just before I cleaned them out to show you & to see if it looks normal. You can see the staining in the hay box and more dotted about on the concrete floor area. It's a nightmare to clean & I'm gradually building up the amount of towels & fleeces so all the floor area is covered eventually. When I first started putting towels in they were avoiding walking on them, really strange! They're gradually getting used to them. Their pee has been like this since I got them, is it ok?

My pigs have a fair bit of white calcium pee. I'm no expert but as far as I'm aware it's fine as long as it's not gritty or sludgy

It's not gritty or sludgy thankfully. After I posted my thread I read through other pee related posts in the Health bit & I feel better about it. I'll feel even better when I've got them used to the fleece & towels, I spend a good hour a day scrubbing that floor!

Ah that's what that is. I found a similar white patch on the fleece bedding yesterday and was worried one of them had been sick! Mine seem fine, but will def keep an eye, feel better now I know it's not sick anyway. I wouldn't have thought anything to be too worried about if they are acting normally, hope all stays well!

If it's happening a lot I would look at trying to cut down some calcium based foods like kale and spinach, only giving that as an occasional treat.
If you notice it gets gritty like sand or thick sludge that's when it would be serious and need a vet visit
