Hi

I'm looking after my friends Guinea pig while she's on holiday and I could do with some advice as it's been a while since I owned any piggies.

This morning when I picked her up I noticed this long white hard waxy stuff coming out her. I thought only males had things like that so I'm a bit confused? Is it something that happens to both sexes? Is it something I should be worried about and tell my friend?

Bumping this up as it may have been missed ...

I'm afraid I don't know the answer myself as I've only ever had boars, hopefully someone more expert and experienced with sows can help, @Wiebke ?

I've not noticed anything with any of my sows though they can have a small bit of white gunk down there at times. Are you 100% sure it is a female?

I did wonder whether it's a boar too?. Has your friend had the piggy long?
I've 12 sows and never seen anything like that on them.

That is not usual for sows.
Can you double check the gender, please? You may find this picture guide here most helpful: Sexing Guinea Pigs: How to Sex a Guinea Pig
Alternatively, you are welcome to post preferably daylight lit and clear pictures of the genitalia and the stuff that is coming out.

Here is our boar guide. Do you recognise any of the stuff in there? Boar Care: Bits, Bums & Baths
