Hi everyone,

Hopefully this is the right place, but I just want to make sure that baby sows weight is okay. I was just a little concerned about the 2kg weight loss this evening, but I health checked them both and could not find anything to be concerned about. I know it is not a lot of weight, but as they are babies I would like some advice. I am probably worrying over nothing, but I have attached a picture of the daily weigh ins that I do to highlight their progress. They are 5 weeks tomorrow.

Oh they do have names btw lol but when I started this is what I did as it was easier and they didn’t have any names at the time so I carried on

That looks like nice steady weight gain. I find that they have little growth spurts, they suddenly put on a load in one day, and not so much another day. 2g (not 2kg as you said in your post ! 😁) is not a significant weight change it literally is a couple of poops!
What sex are they?

Yeah I did find that! Some days it would be the same and the next like 5g-10g (sorry about kg lol) they have never lost weight though, but they seem perfectly fine. They are both sows, Luna & Sol

Lovely. See what they weigh tomorrow, l am sure you will find they have gone up. It would be a bit odd if they both lost weight on the same day, more likely to be your scales playing up! I have had major panics sometimes thinking my pigs have lost weight, and l just hadn't zeroed the scales properly 🙄

Yeah it could be that or they weren’t in the centre or something. They are happily eating, drinking etc so no signs of anything

Just weighed them again and they were around 234/235 mark so either I read the scales terribly wrong or something. The scales are brand new and I even weighed a bag of sugar and the weight was correct so their not broken. I must have read it wrong

It happens. Scale gremlins! Phew!

My scales are new and they have a mind of their own!
I weigh Christian daily. I zero the scales, then just as I am just about to put him in the scales suddenly the scales say 4g. This happens on average 3 times before I can get them to stay on zero while I add a piggie!

It’s a nightmare lol. I was just thinking that there is nothing wrong with them so it must be the scales, I might have just read it wrong or not zeroed them properly
