Took Luna out for grooming and cuddles and she seems to be covered in these black specks. She's not itching or grooming herself any more than usual and her skin seems clear. Have treat with ivermectin. Just wondered what they where and if that was the right course of treatment?

Thankyou.

I'm no expert so I prefer to not say anything just in case! But I'm sure someone will be able to help you out with this
What I can say to you though is that you should never treat something that you don't know what it is for sure, just like in persons is not recommended to self-medicate without any knowledge because you can make things worse.

I am pretty sure they look like static lice. I have been told they're not harmful to guineapigs , but if you wash your pig with lice and mite shampoo it should remove them. Piggies will always get them because they can be in any batch of hay ( so its abit of a no win :p). Hope this helps! katie x

Hi - have you made sure that it is not just dust or dirt stuck? Could you please say what kind of invermectin you are using?
Here is a picture of how fur/hay mite/static lice egg cases look like. The mites themselves are near invisible.
